SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information on the driver of a white pickup truck who left the scene after a crash that killed a motorcyclist on U.S. Highway 281 on San Antonio’s North Side.

Crime Stoppers joined the San Antonio Police Department this week in a fresh appeal for tips, more than two weeks after the crash. Detectives are investigating it as a case of failing to stop and render aid after a deadly collision.

According to police, the rider, Juan Sabas Reyes, 33, was southbound on the highway near the 2200 block shortly after 2 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, when the truck struck his motorcycle. Crime Stoppers put the time of the crash at 2:09 that morning.

Investigators say the pickup driver first came to a stop. Then, as emergency crews closed in, the driver pulled away and left the area before the first officers arrived.

Medics could not save him, and he was declared dead on the highway. Blunt force injuries caused his death, according to the county medical examiner.

So far, nobody has been identified as the driver and no arrest has been made. Detectives have described the vehicle only as a white pickup truck. Crime Stoppers says its cash reward applies to tips that lead to a felony arrest in the case.

People with information can reach San Antonio Crime Stoppers by phone at 210-224-7867, also listed as 210-224-STOP, or send a tip through the P3 Tips app or the Crime Stoppers website. Callers do not have to give their names, and tips can be made anonymously. The crash happened in the early morning hours on one of the North Side’s busiest highways, and police are asking anyone who was on that stretch of U.S. 281 at the time to come forward.
