San Antonio, Texas – Fiesta in San Antonio is officially set to begin on April 24, 2025, and will run through May 4, 2025, featuring numerous parades, cultural events, and culinary delights. Anticipation is building as local officials expect substantial attendance, particularly at the celebrated Battle of Flowers Parade and the Fiesta Flambeau Parade.

The Battle of Flowers Parade is scheduled for Friday, April 28, starting at 10:30 AM, with the vanguard kicking off the event at 9:55 AM. This year, an estimated 350,000 attendees are expected to line the parade route, which begins near San Antonio College at North Main Avenue and East Locust Street. Streets will close for the parade starting at 6:00 AM on the day of the event. Attendees are strongly advised to arrive early to secure good viewing positions and to consider travel time due to the street closures.

Following closely is the Fiesta Flambeau Parade, noted as America’s largest illuminated night parade. This vibrant event is set for Saturday, April 29, starting at 7:45 PM, with the vanguard at 7:15 PM. The Fiesta Flambeau Parade anticipates drawing approximately 750,000 attendees. Streets will begin to close at 2:30 PM the same day, creating further travel considerations for those planning to attend.

While tickets are not required to view the parades, seating on bleachers is limited and recommended for those who wish to guarantee a spot. The weather forecast indicates a 20-30% chance of rain during the Battle of Flowers Parade, with conditions for the Flambeau Parade remaining less clear.

This year’s Fiesta Flambeau Parade will focus on the theme “Deep In The Arts of Texas”, showcasing more than 200 entries. The parade will feature Mateo Lopez as the grand marshal, along with Johnny Hernandez, Dr. Carmen Tafolla, and the late Joe R. Villarreal being honored as honorary grand marshals.

Other events throughout Fiesta include the popular “Night in Old San Antonio” (NIOSA), running from April 29 to May 2, which celebrates the city’s rich food and music traditions. Additionally, the King William Fair Parade is set for 9:00 AM on April 29, with a forecasted 20% chance of rain. The annual Fiesta Pooch Parade will also take place on the same day at 9:30 AM, sharing a similar low chance of rain.

Fiesta is well-known for its delicious food offerings. Guests can enjoy iconic treats such as chicken on a stick, corn in a cup, and the michelada, a popular beverage choice among attendees. In terms of fashion, the trend during Fiesta favors light and breezy clothing, sensible shoes for walking, and striking paper flower crowns that reflect the festive spirit of the event.

One beloved tradition during the parades is the enthusiastic call of “Show us your shoes!”, which encourages participants to showcase their footwear. This fun shout has been a fixture since 1971, adding to the joyful atmosphere of Fiesta celebrations.

Within this colorful event, royal figures play a significant role, with nine official titles representing various traditions and cultural histories. These titles include the Queen of the Order of the Alamo and King Antonio, each holding their specific significance within the Fiesta community.

As San Antonio prepares to embrace this vibrant festival, residents and visitors alike are encouraged to participate in the wide array of events, enjoy the festive atmosphere, and celebrate the cultural richness that Fiesta offers.
