San Antonio – An investigation has begun after a special education teacher at Pease Middle School accidentally served alcoholic beverages to students on the last day of school, May 30, 2025. The incident involved cans of Hard Mountain Dew Blast, a beverage containing alcohol, which the teacher mistakenly thought were non-alcoholic treats for her classroom.

During the course of the day, five students consumed portions of the alcoholic beverage across three different classes. The Northside Independent School District (NISD) confirmed that the drinks were made available to students without the teacher’s knowledge of their contents. Following the discovery of the incident, affected students were taken to the campus nurse for evaluation.

Parents of the students who ingested the alcoholic beverage were promptly notified of the situation shortly after it occurred. One student, who had preexisting health issues related to asthma, experienced drowsiness and confusion as a result of consuming the beverage, raising concerns for both the student’s safety and the response to the incident.
