New York City – San Antonio hairstylist Lisa Weller has arrived in New York City to participate in the highly anticipated 2025 Met Gala, scheduled to take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s event will embrace the theme ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, celebrating the cultural significance of Black fashion and style.

Weller will assist a well-respected industry hairstylist in creating stunning red-carpet hairstyles for the gala. She expressed her excitement about returning to this prestigious event, highlighting the unique interpretations that attendees may bring to this year’s theme.

With 25 years of experience in hairstyling, Lisa Weller is the owner of Twirl Salon, located in the Blue Star Arts Complex in San Antonio. Over the years, she has built a robust portfolio, having styled hair at numerous high-profile red-carpet events including the Academy Awards, Emmys, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and Cannes Film Festival. Her expertise has led her to collaborate with prominent hairstylists such as Adir Abergel for Nicole Kidman’s Vanity Fair cover, as well as Mara Roszak for Zoe Saldaña’s look at the Oscars. Weller has also worked with top models including Gigi and Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, reinforcing her status in the hairstyling industry.

The 2025 Met Gala is co-chaired by notable figures such as Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Anna Wintour, and honorary chair LeBron James. The event serves as an annual fundraiser for The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum, with proceeds supporting the important work of preserving and promoting fashion history.

This year’s gala will unveil a spring 2025 exhibition inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller‘s book, titled “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.” The exhibition will provide insight into the evolution of Black style, tracing its cultural and historical roots from the 18th century to the present day and focusing on the concept of dandyism.

The dress code, “Tailored for You,” will highlight a focus on menswear and suiting, inviting attendees to showcase their interpretation of tailored fashion. This aligns with the overarching exploration of Black style that the event seeks to embody.

The gala’s host committee features a range of influential personalities, including gymnast Simone Biles and her husband Jonathan Owens, actress Regina King, filmmaker Spike Lee, basketball player Angel Reese, musician Doechii, and entertainer Usher.

Recent Met Gala highlights include Nicole Kidman’s striking short bob and two-tone hair color, crafted by Adir Abergel. Kidman’s vintage-inspired black Balenciaga gown was influenced by a 1952 Harper’s Bazaar London issue, and she emphasized the gown’s contemporary interpretation. Additionally, model Hailey Bieber made her return to the gala following a hiatus, opting for a chic Saint Laurent mini blazer dress, paired with simple Hollywood waves styled with the help of her stylist, Dani Michelle.

The Met Gala continues to be recognized as “fashion’s biggest night,” contributing to its rich history of showcasing fashion statements and unforgettable moments among celebrities.
