San Antonio – A mother in San Antonio has been charged with aiding her son’s terrorist plot against his middle school, Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School. Ashley Rosalinda Pardo, 33, was arrested on May 12 and faces one count of aiding in the commission of terrorism, marking a significant legal moment as it is the first such charge in Bexar County.

According to court documents, Pardo allegedly played a critical role in her son’s plan to instigate violence at his school. Reports indicate that she procured ammunition and tactical gear for her 13-year-old son despite being aware of his troubling behavior. This alarming conduct came to light earlier this year, with police first receiving reports of the boy’s actions in January 2025, when disturbing drawings depicting violence and themes of mass shootings were found.

The case escalated in April 2025 when the boy was suspended from school for researching mass shootings on a school-issued computer. On the same day of his suspension, he attempted suicide, prompting authorities to place him in an alternative educational setting. However, he returned to Rhodes Middle School in May 2025 under increased security measures.

The situation reached a critical point on May 11 when the boy’s grandmother discovered him hitting a live bullet with a hammer, which led to further investigation. It was revealed that he had received both the bullet and tactical gear from Pardo. In addition, it was reported that Pardo had exchanged babysitting services for military clothing and accessories for her son.

During a search of the boy’s room, law enforcement found a series of alarming items, including magazines loaded with ammunition and an improvised explosive device made from a mortar-style firework. Furthermore, a note referencing mass shootings, terror attacks, white supremacy, and Nazism was discovered, raising further concerns about the extent of the plot and the influence of the mother.

Despite previously being contacted by law enforcement, child protective services, and school officials regarding her son’s behavior, Pardo was characterized as dismissive and unresponsive to the developing situation. Following the discovery of the ammunition, she was arrested on May 12.

The minor involved has been charged with terrorism and remains in custody, with his name not being publicly released due to his juvenile status. Pardo posted a $75,000 bond the following day but is required to comply with several bail conditions, which include wearing a GPS monitor and refraining from possessing firearms.

Next steps in the legal process include a pre-indictment hearing scheduled for July 17. As of now, Pardo has not entered a plea regarding the charges against her.

This case continues to shock the local community, drawing attention to the ongoing challenges surrounding youth violence and parental responsibility. The arrest highlights important discussions surrounding mental health support, law enforcement intervention, and the significant role that access to firearms and tactical equipment plays in potential youth violence.

As authorities continue their investigation into the incident, the case measures the delicate balance of safeguarding students and addressing the underlying issues that contribute to such alarming events.
