The collision resulted in severe injuries for a passenger in the Tacoma, identified as Nayda Velez De Guijarro, a 50-year-old woman who sadly succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Tacoma, although seriously affected by the incident, was transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash, particularly focusing on the speed of the Ram’s driver, who may face legal charges as the investigation progresses.
The second incident occurred later in the evening, around 11:24 p.m., in the 4400 block of Northwest Loop 410. A man, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, attempted to cross the highway at a location where pedestrian access is prohibited when he was struck by a Ford Fusion. Unfortunately, the man was hit multiple times by different vehicles after the initial collision, leading to fatal injuries. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. Authorities have yet to notify the man’s next of kin, thus delaying the release of his identity. At this time, there are no pending charges linked to this second accident.
Emergency crews responded swiftly to the first accident, arriving at the scene shortly after the incident was reported at around 2 p.m. They worked diligently to clear the area, and the roadway was reopened approximately three hours later, around 5 p.m..
