San Antonio, Texas – Todd Douglas Colburn, a renowned event planner and dedicated advocate for animals and cancer awareness, passed away on May 19, 2025, at the age of 49. He succumbed to colon cancer at his home, surrounded by his beloved family.

Born on October 16, 1975, in Victoria, Texas, Todd was the son of Ronald Douglas Colburn from Winters, Texas, and Deborah Ann Colburn (Hutto) from Del Rio, Texas. He graduated from Del Rio High School in 1994 and subsequently attended Texas A&M University in College Station, where he earned a degree in Travel & Tourism in 1998. Todd’s career was marked by significant contributions to the field of event planning, serving as the Executive Director of the Paseo Del Rio Association in San Antonio and later as the system-wide Event Director for the University of California system.

Todd Colburn was instrumental in planning several high-profile events, including the premiere of John Lee Hancock’s 2004 remake of “The Alamo” and the 100th Anniversary of the Ford F-150 Truck. His passion for helping the less fortunate was evident in his commitment to supporting cancer patients and the elderly, along with a deep dedication to animal welfare, particularly in aiding shelter and rescue dogs.

Colburn is survived by his husband, Stephen Lancaster-Hall of San Antonio, along with other family members including his father, Ronald Colburn; sister Shannon Hicks and brother-in-law John Hicks; sister-in-law Suzanne Sealey and brother-in-law Paul Sealey; and nephews Ian and Evan Sealey from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Ann Colburn, and several grandparents and relatives.

The family extends their gratitude to Todd’s medical team, expressing appreciation for the care he received throughout his illness. This team included Dr. Scott Ulmer and Frederica Gilmore at The START Center, Dr. Jason Willis from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, colorectal surgeons Dr. Seemah Izfar and Dr. Cannon Lewis, and Dr. Geoff Weikle from Methodist Stone Oak Hospital, among others. Additionally, Christus Palliative & Hospice Care was acknowledged for their compassionate assistance during his end-of-life care.

Visitation services will be held on May 27th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary North in San Antonio. A commitment ceremony is scheduled for May 28th at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:15 AM. The family will later host a Celebration of Life Fiesta on the same day from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at La Paloma Blanca in San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Todd’s name to The Colon Cancer Coalition or San Antonio Pets Alive, honoring his lifelong commitment to both cancer awareness and animal welfare.
