Goodrich was born on April 18, 1931, in San Benito, Texas, but moved to San Antonio as a young man where he spent most of his life. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eleanor Patricia “Patsy” Goodrich, and their five children, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. His family includes four children: William Edwin Goodrich and his wife Rosann, Lawrence Alan Goodrich and his wife Elizabeth, Donna Gayle Goodrich Monroe and her husband James, and Gregory Scott Goodrich and his wife Brenda, along with daughter Vicki Lee Goodrich Baillon and husband Paul.
Goodrich’s extended family includes several nieces and a nephew: Monica Stasyszen, Jane Reynolds, and Kenneth Goodrich, as well as significant ties to his late parents, Lawrence and Isabella Goodrich, and siblings, including his sister Mary Ann Goodrich Poindexter.
Life and Career
During his youth, Goodrich was an active member of the cave exploring team at the University of Texas at Austin. Following his service in the United States Air Force, he transitioned to civilian life and went on to own a Mobil gas station. Goodrich later found a successful career in management with El Paso Natural Gas/Coastal, from which he retired in 2002.
Family and Personal Life
Goodrich’s commitment to his family began when he married Patsy, who was a widow with two young sons. He had been a groomsman at her previous wedding. Together, they expanded their family, welcoming three more children. The family enjoyed weekend adventures that often included water skiing and participating in various watersports on the Guadalupe River and Lake LBJ in Kingsland, Texas.
A car enthusiast, Goodrich owned several Mustangs, including a classic 1965 model, before acquiring a Dodge Charger as his final vehicle. He was known for his friendly spirit and willingness to lend a hand to both friends and strangers.

Goodrich’s family has expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the management and staff of Brookdale Kingsley Medical Center and Bloom Hospice Care, particularly for the support provided by Katie Reeves, PA, during his illness. The funeral service and interment are scheduled for June 6, 2025, at 10 AM at Holy Cross Cemetery, located at 17501 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, Texas.
