San Antonio – A tragic multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 has resulted in the deaths of four individuals and left 21 others injured. The incident took place on Thursday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. near Cassin Road and Leon Creek when a white Chevrolet Camaro, reported stolen, collided with a small transport bus that was towing a trailer.

The high-speed impact caused the bus to lose control, crash into a guardrail, and ultimately be struck by an 18-wheeler, leading to the bus rolling onto its side. Emergency responders pronounced two victims from the bus dead at the scene, while another two succumbed to their injuries later at the hospital. Among the deceased were both young children and older adults, highlighting the severe nature of the crash.

In total, emergency services transported 21 individuals to nearby hospitals, with eight of those passengers sustaining life-threatening injuries. Two of the adults remain in critical condition, while several others are reported to be in good or fair health. University Hospital confirmed that they are treating 15 patients from the incident, including multiple children who were on board the bus.

After the collision, it was reported that four suspects fled from the stolen Camaro, with at least one individual seen carrying an AK-style rifle. As of Friday morning, authorities have not located or identified these fleeing suspects, raising concerns about public safety in the area.

The transport bus involved in the crash is owned by a company named Transportes Guerra. The vehicle was traveling from Fort Worth to Mexico with scheduled stops along the way. The crash led to the closure of the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 for several hours so that police could conduct a thorough investigation. The highway reopened at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is actively working to notify the next of kin for the deceased victims as families cope with the tragedy. San Antonio Police Chief William McManus confirmed that two of the deceased were senior adults, emphasizing the tragic loss experienced by multiple families as a result of this unfortunate event.

This incident has raised significant public safety concerns, sparking discussions on vehicle theft and reckless driving. Police are continuing their investigation and are asking for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the suspects who fled the scene of the crash. Authorities urge the public to come forward if they have any insights that could assist in this ongoing case.

The affected families and community are grappling with the fallout from the incident as they hope for a swift resolution and justice for the victims. This crash serves as a painful reminder of the potential dangers present on the roads, especially involving high-speed pursuits and reckless behavior.
