News Summary

Residents in North San Antonio are voicing concerns about the unlicensed elder care homes operated by Lidia Negrila. Increased medical activities around the properties have raised red flags regarding the quality of care provided to the elderly. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission confirmed that Negrila’s homes lack the necessary long-term care licenses. As incidents involving vulnerable patients come to light, a new office by Assisted Living Locators has opened in the area to assist families in finding proper care for their aging loved ones.

North San Antonio

Concerns are growing among residents of North San Antonio regarding unlicensed elder care homes operated by Lidia Negrila. Neighbors in the Crosstimber-Rogers Ranch area have reported frequent medical activities outside Negrila’s properties, raising alarms about the level of care the elderly residents are receiving.

Over the past few months, residents have observed numerous medical supply trucks, transport vans, caregivers, and ambulances visiting one of Negrila’s homes on Rogers Loop. On one notable occasion, three caregivers were seen at the Rogers Loop location just before the Fourth of July weekend. Negrila initially denied involvement in elder care before later admitting that she does care for elderly individuals, asserting that she is not required to obtain a state license.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission confirmed that neither of Negrila’s homes is licensed for long-term care. According to geriatric care expert Byron Cordes, many operators in Texas can evade licensing regulations as rules do not apply to facilities that house three or fewer non-relatives. Cordes emphasized that the lack of licensing means that caregivers may not receive ongoing education or mandatory training, which is particularly concerning for those working with patients who have conditions such as dementia.

Care Facility Details

Negrila registered her Rogers Bluff property as the Rogers Ranch Senior Care home in 2020, while her second home, First Senior Care Home, remains actively registered. However, the LLC registration for Rogers Bluff was terminated in August 2024 due to a failure to maintain a registered agent or office address. This raises additional concerns regarding the operational integrity of her care facilities.

Incidents involving Negrila’s patients have further intensified concerns among residents. One notable incident involved an elderly man with dementia who was found wandering the streets without shoes, identified as one of Negrila’s patients. Despite the gravity of the situation, footage shows Negrila downplaying the matter when questioned by concerned neighbors.

In contrast, a family member of the elderly man later praised Negrila, claiming she is performing an “incredible service to this community.” Despite this mixed feedback, there is no record of Negrila or her homes facing any citations or charges linked to negligence or crimes concerning elderly care.
