San Antonio, Texas – Ann Killian, a respected bankruptcy auditor and beloved family matriarch, passed away peacefully on Tuesday at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Known for her warmth, resilience, and profound impact on those around her, Ann leaves behind a legacy of love and dedicated service in her professional and personal life.

Born in Manassas, Virginia, and raised in nearby Haymarket, Ann dedicated most of her adult life to San Antonio, Texas, where she fostered a vibrant community filled with laughter and joy. Throughout her life, she embraced her roles as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, touching the hearts of many along the way.

Ann had a distinguished 33-year career as a Bankruptcy Auditor with the U.S. Trustees Office, where she became a highly regarded expert in financial oversight and fraud prevention. Her contributions significantly shaped federal bankruptcy enforcement over the decades, earning her a place of honor among her peers. She was recognized as a Certified Fraud Examiner through the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. In her later years, Ann played an active role on the Federal White Collar Bankruptcy Task Force with the FBI, further solidifying her expertise and commitment to the field.

Outside of her successful career, Ann was known for her vibrant energy and passion for life. She was an avid tennis player who excelled in the sport, competing as part of a club team that reached the National Championship in Hawaii in 2005. Ann also cherished her love for travel, often embarking on cruises with her husband Don to stunning destinations like Alaska, New England, and the Canadian coast.

Married for 35 years to her devoted husband, Donald Killian, Ann was the proud mother of three children: LeaAnn Mendoza, Dawn Killian, and Aaron Eldridge. She welcomed their partners, Miguel Mendoza, Claire Torres, and Maria Eldridge, into her family with open arms and joy. As a grandmother, lovingly known as “Grammy,” she took immense delight in her four grandchildren: Ayden Mendoza, Ava Mendoza, Killian Eldridge, and Hendrix Eldridge.

Ann was deeply supported by a loving family, including her father, Joseph W. Miller, her mother, Vera N. Rissler, and her sister, Julia Fay Miller. She also leaves behind her mother-in-law, Julie Killian, and extended family members Duane, Lynn, Dawn, Tim, Danny, and Joan Killian. Friends and neighbors remember Ann for her wisdom, humor, and quiet strength, which remained steadfast even in the face of her challenging illness.

Throughout her fight with ALS, Ann faced the greatest of challenges with dignity, courage, and grace. Her family has expressed deep gratitude to the medical teams and caregivers, particularly her caretaker Vanessa Torres, for their unwavering support and compassionate care during her final years.
