San Antonio Welcomes Infamous Annabelle Doll at Psychic & Spirit Fest

The notorious Annabelle doll, famous for inspiring horror films, is currently on display in San Antonio at the Fourth Annual Psychic & Spirit Fest. The event is hosted by Curious Twins Paranormal & Ghost Tours and offers attendees a chance to see the doll that has captured the fascination—and fear—of many since it first entered popular culture.

Annabelle arrived at the Black Swan Inn on Friday morning and will be featured prominently throughout the festival, scheduled for May 17, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Following the main event, a special museum-only exhibition of Annabelle will take place on May 18, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m>. Tickets for the event are available, with 100 tickets offered at the gate for access to the museum on Saturday.

Background on the Annabelle Doll

Unlike the porcelain version depicted in various movies, the real Annabelle is a three-foot-tall Raggedy Ann doll. She was given as a gift to a student nurse in 1970 and soon became the source of terrifying experiences for her and her roommates. Reports suggest that the doll moved on its own and left unsettling messages stating, “Help me, help us.” These incidents prompted paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren to conclude that Annabelle was a conduit for a spirit. They later secured the doll in their Occult Museum for protection.

After the passing of Lorraine Warren in 2019, the museum closed permanently, leading to concerns about the doll’s current safety and containment. As such, Ryan Daniel Buell, a paranormal investigator, is leading a tour called the “Devil’s on the Run Tour,” which includes Annabelle. Buell has stated that a retired Catholic priest is involved in ensuring that Annabelle remains contained during this tour.

Location and Haunting History

The Black Swan Inn itself has a reputation for being haunted, reportedly by the spirit of a Confederate soldier. Its spooky history has made it a popular location featured in various paranormal television series. The inn’s ambiance is expected to add to the eerie atmosphere of the Psychic & Spirit Fest.

Festival Activities

This year’s Psychic & Spirit Fest promises a comprehensive program, including guest speakers, gallery readings, mediumship sessions, and tours of various haunted artifacts. The festival aims to create a rich experience for fans of the paranormal and enthusiasts eager to learn more about spiritual phenomena.

Community Concerns

However, not all feedback has been positive. Many attendees are expressing concern online regarding the potential dangers linked with transporting Annabelle. Given her storied history, the decision to move the doll has raised questions about the risks associated with handling such a reputedly haunted object.

Movies and Popular Culture

Annabelle’s chilling tale has captured the imagination of many, leading to dramatizations in several films, including The Conjuring series and its spin-offs. The ongoing fascination with the doll illustrates the blending of horror and reality, which continues to engage audiences and provoke thought about the supernatural.

The Psychic & Spirit Fest offers a unique gathering for fans of the paranormal, inviting them to explore the enigmatic world surrounding Annabelle and other ghostly phenomena while sharing in the excitement and mysteries that come along with them.
