San Antonio – Marguerite Grady Fox, a beloved figure in the San Antonio community, passed away peacefully on May 18th, 2025, at the age of 87. Her deep roots in the local area and her kind disposition left a significant impact on those who knew her.

Born on April 24th, 1938, to Irish immigrants Mary Casey and Patrick Grady, Marguerite was fondly known as “Margie” by friends and family throughout her life. She spent her early years in San Rafael, California, where she was educated at St. Raphael’s Elementary School and Marin Catholic High School. Marguerite later attended Dominican College, from which she proudly graduated.

Marguerite’s teaching career began at Santa Margarita School in Terra Linda, California, where she dedicated five years to educating young minds. On August 22nd, 1964, she married Mike Fox, an Air Force meteorologist. The couple embarked on a journey together filled with numerous military assignments worldwide before finally retiring.

After their military careers, Marguerite and Mike settled in Helotes, Texas, in order to be closer to their children. In 2002, to embrace their golden years, they moved to the Blue Skies of Texas retirement community in San Antonio, formerly known as Air Force Village II. There, Marguerite continued to spread warmth and joy to her fellow residents.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her half-brother Robert Grady, half-sister Patricia Riley, and sister Nancy McInnis. She is survived by her loving husband Mike, three children, and four grandchildren. Her daughters, Christine Gifford and Karen Zabreznik, reside in Dripping Springs, Texas, and Bend, Oregon, respectively. Her son, Joe Fox, lives in San Antonio. Marguerite’s grandchildren are Sophie and Lucy Gifford, Jacob Fox, and Zoey Zabreznik, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Throughout her life, Marguerite was remembered for her unwavering kindness and quiet strength. With a strong foundation of faith, she touched the lives of everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy. Friends and family lament her passing while celebrating the profound impact she had on their lives.

A Memorial Mass service for Marguerite Grady Fox is scheduled for June 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Blue Skies of Texas. Additionally, the family will hold a private Committal Service on May 29, 2025, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, a significant site reflecting her family’s military background.

Marguerite’s life serves as a testament to the warmth and unity that can be found within a community. Her memory will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of many who had the privilege to know her.
