San Antonio, Texas – Arrests Made in Series of Armored Truck Robberies

Law enforcement officials in San Antonio have made several arrests following a series of armed robberies targeting armored truck drivers in the region. The most recent incidence took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Woodlake shopping center, marking one of several heists in the area over the past few days.

In the latest robbery, an employee from Loomis Armored Services was stocking an ATM when three masked suspects approached and demanded money. The employee complied with their demands, allowing the suspects to remove cash and equipment from the machine. In a surprising turn, one of the suspects managed to seize the employee’s weapon, which was a standard procedure for armed security personnel. After the robbery, the suspects fled the scene using a getaway vehicle, though authorities later recovered a silver sedan believed to be the car used in the crime.

This incident followed another robbery that occurred just after noon on the same day in the 1400 block of Austin Highway, where a Brinks armored car driver was ambushed while servicing an ATM. The driver was pepper-sprayed by three or four men wearing dark hoodies, who then stole his bag and fled in a black late model Chevy Tahoe. The extent of the cash stolen in this robbery remains unconfirmed.

The string of robberies continued on Tuesday at around 1 p.m. in the 5100 block of Walzem Road, where a similar scenario unfolded. The police, equipped with SAPD’s Eagle Helicopter, tracked a suspect vehicle after the robbery. The pursuit led to a neighborhood in the 3800 block of Morning Drive in Schertz, where Glenn MacGarity, 41, was arrested. Two accomplices, Anneil Tedder, 31, and Diontay Roberson, 23, were also taken into custody shortly afterward. All three individuals are expected to face aggravated robbery charges.

During the police response in Schertz, authorities temporarily placed two nearby schools on lockdown to ensure the safety of students and staff. A SWAT team was deployed to manage crowd control and assist with apprehending the suspects. Fortunately, law enforcement quickly recovered the stolen weapon from the earlier Loomis robbery, further solidifying their cases against the alleged perpetrators.

While two robbery incidents in San Antonio are linked to the arrests, the suspects involved in the Loomis robbery remain at large. The police have urged the public to provide any information that might assist with their ongoing investigations into these troubling events. No injuries have been reported in relation to these robberies, but the incidents have raised concerns regarding the safety of armored service operations in the area.

Officials from both local law enforcement and the armored service companies have called for increased vigilance and security measures to prevent future incidents. The community’s response is pivotal in helping police prevent such occurrences and ensuring the safety of those working in high-security roles. As investigations continue, authorities emphasize the need for community cooperation in this ongoing matter.

In summary, law enforcement agencies in San Antonio are actively working on multiple robbery cases involving armored truck personnel. Suspects have been apprehended, but the threat remains as several individuals are still at large. Authorities are focused on minimizing risks to public safety through effective investigation and community engagement.
