Artists Unite for Photography Event in San Antonio

Photographers and artists of all ages flocked to San Antonio for the TPR Artist Forum: Photography event on the 30th of April, in a forum dedicated to inspiring, educating, and connecting artists. The event was free and open to the public, adding to the vibrant artistic culture of the city.

Panel Discussions

As part of the major highlights of the evening was a comprehensive panel discussion, dedicated to professional insights into breaking into the photography arts. Panelists shared their knowledge on a range of pertinent topics, from how to get one’s work out into the world and gain exposure, to understanding resources provided by the San Antonio Department of Arts & Culture.

With an emphasis on career sustainability, the panelists delved into the pros and cons of the industry, dispensed valuable advice from their own experiences, and interacted with eager attendees during an audience Q&A at the end of the panel discussion.

Networking Mixer

Building connections within the community and extending one’s network is a crucial aspect of professional development in the arts. And this was catered to by the Networking Mixer that followed the panel discussion. A great range of established artists and fresh faces alike took the opportunity to build connections, discuss passions, and potentially even collaborate on future projects.

Free Headshots and More

As a unique icebreaker, the event offered a brilliant opportunity for attendees to get a professional photographer to take their headshot for free. This added value resonated with the crowd, drawing an impressive early-arriving audience ahead of the panel discussion; doors opened at 6pm, with the panel starting at 7pm, and the mixer following at 8pm.

The forum was held at the Irma and Emilio Nicolas Media Center, located within the Texas Public Radio headquarters at 321 W. Commerce.
