The incident occurred at approximately 2:40 PM on Mardell Street, where Zamora reportedly attempted to rob a 27-year-old man at gunpoint during a marijuana transaction.
Witnesses reported hearing around 12 to 15 gunshots in the area at the time of the incident. Authorities established that Zamora had previously met the victim for an unrelated jewelry transaction at a different location. During the altercation, the victim pulled out a firearm and shot Zamora in the back, leading to his transport to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Zamora’s death as a homicide. Following the shooting, SAPD recovered a handgun wrapped in a red cloth in the backyard of a nearby residence.
