San Antonio, Texas – A young man named Eric Zamora, aged 28, died on July 24, 2025, following a shooting during an alleged robbery attempt. The incident occurred at approximately 2:40 PM on Mardell Street, where Zamora reportedly attempted to rob a 27-year-old man at gunpoint during a marijuana transaction.

Witnesses reported hearing around 12 to 15 gunshots in the area at the time of the incident. Authorities established that Zamora had previously met the victim for an unrelated jewelry transaction at a different location. During the altercation, the victim pulled out a firearm and shot Zamora in the back, leading to his transport to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Zamora’s death as a homicide. Following the shooting, SAPD recovered a handgun wrapped in a red cloth in the backyard of a nearby residence. As of the evening of the incident, no charges had been filed against anyone involved.

A prayer service will take place at 7:00 PM during the visitation. Following the visitation, a processional will leave the funeral home on August 8, 2025, at 10:20 AM for an 11:00 AM Mass at Xtreme Harvest Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, located on Austin Highway.
