The advisory kicks in at 6 p.m. on Friday and will last until 9 a.m. Saturday.

The forecast indicates that drivers can expect icy conditions on the roads, especially on untreated highways, bridges, and overpasses which freeze first. Ice accumulations are likely to be light—around a few hundredths of an inch to a tenth of an inch—but don’t let that fool you. The roads could still be quite hazardous, particularly in northern Bexar County, and parts of Comal and Hays counties.

Seven Texas counties are under this advisory, including Hays, Comal, Bexar, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Wilson, and Gonzales. Affected cities include San Marcos, New Braunfels, Spring Branch, Seguin, and Lockhart.

If you were planning to check out the St. Jude Dream Home Open House, be aware that it will be closed on Saturday but is set to reopen on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

In light of the cold weather, the city of San Antonio is stepping in to provide temporary overnight shelters for those experiencing homelessness. To ensure the well-being of furry friends, Animal Care Services is also providing kennels at shelters for pets.
Safety Precautions
All encampment abatements have been paused during this cold snap for safety reasons. A designated overnight resilience hub will open at the Northeast Senior Center from 5 p.m. Friday till 10 a.m. Saturday.
