Early Voting Commences for North East ISD School Board Elections

Early voting began on April 22 for North East Independent School District (NEISD) school board races in the north San Antonio area. The election, which includes several municipal and district voting, will be held on May 4.
Current Status of the Elections
With Single-Member Districts 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 having contested races, voters are showing keen interest. The winners from Districts 1, 4, 5, and 6 will be selected for four-year terms. Exceptionally, the victor from District 2 will replace Terri Williams, a valued member who passed away in the fall of 2023, during her first year of the four-year term, which she won in a re-election in 2022.
Additional Decisions Facing Voters
Interestingly, voters in Shavano Park will decide on reauthorizing a 0.25% sales tax to continue funding the city’s crime control and prevention district. Also, Shavano Park voters will see three uncontested City Council candidates on the ballot. Given that Shavano Park councils operate on an ‘at-large’ basis with no distinct districts, and only three respective candidates running in this year’s election, the incumbents who applied for ballot spots will be automatically declared re-elected. These include Maggi Kautz, Konrad Kuykendall, and Lee Powers.
Early Voting Schedule
Early polling sites are open from April 22-25, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; April 27, 29 and 30, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and April 28, noon to 6 p.m. On the Election Day, the polls will commence operations at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
